Mums in Plum

Other Supplies

• Bazzill Sour Apple and Hillary Cardstock
• Paper Accents Muslin Assorted Textured Cardstock (5-/1 " square card and circles)
• Corner Rounder Punch
• 2" Circle Punch
• 4" Circle Die and Diecut System
• Scrapbook Adhesives 1/4" Black Foam Squares
• 1/8" Foam Dot
• Soft Round Paintbrush
• Tweezers
• Gold Mini-brads
• Cut a 3-3/4" section of the Bloomers Design Adhesives and burnish it onto Sour Apple Cardstock
• Carefully remove the clear liner and place  the foil on the adhesive pattern
• Burnish the foil onto the cardstock with your finger and carefully remove the liner
• Round the corners of the cardstock
• Punch a 2" circle of the purple/blue cardstock and burnish the purse from the Shopping Trip Design Adhesives onto it
• Carefully remove the clear liner 
• Attach a 1/8" foam dot to the center  top edge of the purse - do not remove the top liner
• Brush Peridot Glitter onto the purse, around the foam dot
• Remove the foam dot liner and press Grape Crush Sparkle Fibers into the adhesive with a pair of tweezers
• Cut a 1" x 2" rectangle of Hillary Cardstock and round the corners
• Burnish the shoe onto it and carefully remove the clear liner
• Place a 1/4" square black foam dot onto the adhesive - do not remove the top liner
• Brush Charcoal Glitter onto the shoe around the foam square
• Remove the foam square liner and press Grape Crush Sparkler Fibers into the adhesive
• Diecut a 4" circle of the green background
• Attach the mums, shoe and purse to the circle
• Punch three holes and attach the mini-brads
• Attach the circle to the card

NO TRICKS!

 
 

It's nice to be back online again after many days (too many days!) of outages and disruptions.  Thank goodness there's still time to do another Halloween project - a multi-tasking doorhanger+card featuring Smooch Spritz, Design Adhesives, Glitter and Embossing Powder from Clearsnap. 

I  spritzed a cool, curvy wood doorhanger with Gingersnap and let it dry for several hours. Trick or Treat and Spooky Design Adhesives were burnished onto the completely dry wood and decorated with Charcoal, Peridot, Grape Fizz and Sweet Orange Glitter.  Cocoa Bean Embossing Powder was used for the tree. Black flocking covers the cat and bats. Color-coordinated ribbons add a bright splash of color at the top.

Directions

• Place the door hanger in the Color Catcher and spritz it with Gingersnap
• Allow the ink the dry completely
• Cut the tree from the Spooky Design Adhesives strip
• Place it on a smooth hard surface and gently burnish it with your finger
• Carefully remove the opaque liner and burnish the pattern onto the completely dry door hanger
• Carefully remove the clear liner and sprinkle the adhesive with Cocoa Bean Embossing Powder
• Heat-emboss the tree
• Repeat the process with  No Tricks and Just Treats, using a paintbrush to apply Charcoal Glitter
• Repeat the process with the cat using Grape Fizz Glitter for the hat and black flocking
• Repeat the process with the house, stars and pumpkins using Sweet Orange, Peridot and Charcoal Glitter
• Repeat the process with the bats and stars using black flocking
• Tie ribbons at the top

Spider Attack

It's not your typical itsy bitsy spider approaching Frankenstein here.  The  spider and his web - from the Fright Night Design Adhesives - sparkle with Charcoal Glitter.  Frank is Smooched in a shiny polyester leisure suit (is there any other kind of leisure suit?)...and his creepy scar is Siren Smooch.  

See how two of the spider's legs seem to be crawling over the background?  It's  easy to do that with Design Adhesives.  Blackbird Fluid Chalk scruffs and distresses the background - and Grape Fizz Glitter adds a bright, contrasting accent.

Directions

• Stamp Frankenstein on Kraft Cardstock and emboss it with clear powder
• Paint the image with Smooch Accent Inks - Siren (scar), Chocolate Cherry (suit), Pool (lapel), and Molasses (shoes)
• Trim the bottom of the Kraft cardstock with decorative scissors or a rotary trimmer and a wavy blade
• Trim the Kraft cardstock to 2" x 2-1/8" and ink the edges with Blackbird
• Mat it on a 2-3/16" x 3-1/2" piece of aqua cardstock
• Ink the edges of the mat and attach it to a 3-1/8" x 7-7/8" piece of orange cardstock
• Ink the edges of the orange cardstock
• Stamp the greeting below Frankenstein with Blackbird and emboss it 
• Cut the web and spider from the Design Adhesives strip
• Place them (with the clear liner on the bottom) on a smooth hard surface and burnish them with your finger
• Carefully remove the opaque liner from the web, burnish the pattern onto the corner of the orange cardstock and remove the clear liner
•  Brush Charcoal Glitter onto the adhesive pattern
• Repeat the process with the spider
• Draw a black pen line from the spider to the web
• Attach three foam squares and brush Grape Fizz Glitter onto the adhesive

KidStyle...Scary Day

It's been a while since my last kids card...so let's get started!

Halloween projects can be cute, artsy, vintage, creepy...or just plain scary.  This is one of those scary ones...as in cool colors mixed in scary ways.   The supply list sounds like a grocery list...Picante, Grape Fizz, Sour Apple, Apricot - and to carry it all home,  recycled Brown Bag cardstock.  

The Eeeeks! Design Adhesives ghost, flocked in white - and glittered CELEBRATE - are just two of the many ways Design Adhesives can add quick bling to any card.

Directions

• Stamp the grid background on Brown Bag Cardstock with Charcoal and trim it to 2-1/8" x 5-1/8"
• Ink the edges with Charcoal
• Cut the ghost from the Eeeeks! strip, place it (clear-side-down) on a smooth hard surface and burnish it
• Carefully remove the opaque liner and burnish the pattern onto Black Cardstock
• Carefully remove the clear liner and brush white flocking onto the pattern (the pattern includes a frame around the ghost - it can also be flocked in white and included in the design if desired)
• Trim the cardstock
• Cut CELEBRATE from the Design Adhesives strip, burnish it (clear-side-down) and remove the opaque liner
• Burnish it onto Desert Sun Cardstock, carefully remove the clear liner, and brush Grape Fizz Glitter onto the adhesive
• Cut it into a strip
• Stamp OCT. 31st on the smooth side of Sour Apple Cardstock with Picante and emboss it with detail clear powder
• Punch it into a 1-1/2" circle and ink the edges with Charcoal
• Cut a 3-1/4" x 4" piece of Black Cardstock
• Trim the long edges at an angle to create a piece approximately 2-5/8" wide at the narrow end
• Assemble the card
• Attach three foam dots and press Grape Fizz Glitter into the adhesive

Black Cat at Night

 

Carrot Cake and Silver Foil Smooch Spritz transform a piece of humble Brown Bag cardstock into a sparkly metallic backdrop for the Night Cat on his evening stroll.   I did the background, air-dried it, then stamped the cat - but it looks as though the spritzes created an eerie mist of color over the cat and the lamppost.  Sometimes unexpected results can be just what you're looking for! 

The flourish from the Brocade Design Adhesives  - by  Memory Box -  glows with an application of the new Silver Fog Designer Foils.  Cherry Ice, Irish Eyes, Seaport, Plum Crazy and Goodmine are the other foil colors - and they're just in time for the holidays. Six sheets of one color are in each packet, perfectly-sized to team up with all of the Design Adhesives.   Used together, they give new meaning to the idea of instant-gratification.

Directions

• Spritz Brown Bag Cardstock with Carrot Cake and Silver Foil Smooch Spritzes and air-dry the inks
• Stamp Night Cat on the spritzed cardstock with Blackbird
• Trim the cardstock to 1-3/4" x 3-7/8" 
• Stamp Script Block on Quartz Cardstock, dry the ink and punch a 1-1/2" circle
• Stamp the greeting on Parsley Cardstock with Frosted Plum, dry the ink and trim the bottom edge with pinking shears or a rotary cutter
• Cut the large flourish from the Design Adhesives strip
• Place it, clear side down, on a smooth flat surface and burnish it
• Carefully remove the opaque liner and burnish the pattern onto Black Cardstock
• Carefully remove the clear liner and press a foil strip (shiny side up) onto the adhesive pattern
• Burnish it and carefully remove the remainder of the strip
• Attach the flourish to a 3-7/8" square of Goldfish Cardstock
• Ink the edges of the pieces (except the moon) with Blackbird and assemble the card, using foam dots for the greeting
• Attach three foam dots to the card and press Sweet Orange Glitter onto the adhesive
