Change of Seasons

Backtrack a bit with the Watermark resist technique and add an extra splash of color to fall cards with Vivid! Butterscotch ink - before you stamp Shadow Leaves with the Rollagraph.  Then, emboss them and add Pumpkin Pie, Fireberry, Frosted Plum and Grasshopper highlights using the new Cat's Eye Archival Dye Pool Party Queues.  Vivid! Olive is the finishing touch. 

Try using a Replacement Wheel Drive (or - simply stated - a plain Rollagraph wheel) and your inking handle as a brayer.  Keep an extra Jumbo Handle and plain wheel handy for quick brayering - it's always the perfect width to match your Design Wheel patterns.

Ink, stamp, ink is the process here.  Create several strips of the fall-colored leaves - and have them ready for future projects too.  They'll be great for autumn birthday, thank-you and Thanksgiving cards and invitations.  When those are done - turn any leftover scraps into little tags -  or placecards for a harvest supper.

Directions

• Cut an 8-1/2" x 3" strip of Glossy White Cardstock
• Using the Replacement Wheel Drive (plain wheel) and Jumbo Inking Handle as a brayer, cover it with a layer of Butterscotch ink
• Dry the ink and clean the wheel
• Snap the Watermark Cartridge and Design Wheel into the other handle
• Roll the leaf pattern onto the inked cardstock and emboss it with the detail clear powder
• Using one color at a time - and allowing each color to dry before adding the next layer of color - ink the cooled design with the Pumpkin Pie, Fireberry, Frosted Plum and Grasshopper Cat's Eyes
• Buff any residual ink off the embossed areas with a tissue
• Brayer Olive ink over the pattern using the plain wheel and handle
• Buff off any residual ink
• Trim the pattern into a 1-7/8" wide strip
• Cut the strip into 2-1/2" long pieces and ink the edges with Butterscotch using the Stylus and Leaf Tip
• Cut a 1" x 7-1/2" strip of Brown Bag Cardstock and attach Copper Mini-brads
• Stamp the greeting on Parakeet Cardstock with Pumpkin Spice
• Cut it into a strip and ink the edges with Pumpkin Spice using the Stylus and another Leaf Tip
• Assemble the card, using  Foam Dots for the greeting

Halloween Candy

Here's another Design Adhesives combination.   This trio includes patterns from Fright Night (spider), Trick or Treat (greeting) and Candy Store.  

Glitter (Grape Fizz, Peridot and Charcoal) and flocking (brown and black) add the highlights. Copper mini-brads add visual weight and balance the bright orange candy background.  Think of the different color combinations you can use throughout the year for the holidays - or on a "you're sweet" card any day of the year.

Directions

• Cut the set of three candies, spider and "Just Treats" from the Design Adhesives
• Place them on a hard flat surface, with the opaque liner on the bottom, and gently burnish them with your finger
• Carefully remove the opaque liner and burnish the candies onto Carrot Cardstock
• Remove the clear liner
• Using the paintbrush, apply Grape Fizz, Peridot and Charcoal Glitter to the candies
• Brush brown flocking onto the lollipop stick
• Burnish the spider onto the cardstock and brush black flocking onto it
• Trim the cardstock to 2-1/8" x 2-3/4" and ink the edges with Blackbird
• Attach it to a 2-1/4" square of Ultra Black Cardstock
• Burnish "Just Treats" onto Sour Apple Cardstock
• Brush Charcoal Glitter onto the greeting
• Cut it into two pieces and ink the edges with Blackbird
• Assemble the card and attach the mini-brads

No Tricks!

Here's a combination of two Design Adhesives - Eeeeks! and the new Trick or Treat.   Silver Fog Foil, orange flocking and Cinnamon Spice Glitter are used with the Design Adhesives.  Root Beer Sparkle Fibers add a splash of color for the finishing touch.

The big "X" with created with the greeting leaves no doubt that only treats are acceptable here...no tricks. Dark chocolate would be fine.

Directions

• Cut the ghost and Jack o' Lantern patterns from the Design Adhesives strip
• Remove the opaque liner and gently burnish the ghost onto Black Cardstock with your finger
• Carefully remove the clear liner
• Place the foil strip on the adhesive pattern and burnish it
• Carefully peel the strip off
• Trim the cardstock approximately 1/16" outside the foil border
• Burnish the Jack o' Lantern onto Hillary Cardstock, remove the liner and brush flocking onto the adhesive
• Trim the cardstock along the edges of the pattern
• Cut the greeting and approximately 2-5/8" of the dotted border from the Design Adhesives
• Carefully remove the opaque liners and burnish the patterns onto Parakeet Cardstock
• Carefully remove the clear liners and brush Cinnamon Spice onto the adhesive 
• Cut the pieces into 7/8" x 3-1/8" strips and ink the edges with Charcoal
• Cut a long wavy border  on a 6" strip of Dolphin Cardstock 
• Trim the strip to 6" x 2-1/2" and ink the edges with Charcoal
• Assemble the card, crossing the Parakeet strips to form an "X"
• Attach three foam squares to the card and press Root Beer Sparkle Fibers into the adhesive
• Use fine-tipped scissors to remove excess fibers

 

Shopping Spree

The new Shopping Trip Design Adhesives are perfect on a card for your favorite extreme shopper.  Shoes and purses - in nine cool styles - are waiting to be glittered, foiled or flocked in a rainbow of colors. 

They're glittered here...in Charcoal, Twinkling Turquoise and Sweet Orange, just waiting for the first days of fall.  The Shop stamp, from American Art Stamp, says it all on a little twine-tied tag.  It would be a fun card for a birthday - especially if the birthday gal found a giftcard tucked inside.

Directions

• Cut the Design Adhesives strip into three sections
• Carefully remove the opaque liners and burnish the pattern onto three pieces of cream cardstock with your finger
• Use the paintbrush to apply the Charcoal, Twinkling Turquoise and Sweet Orange Glitter to the different sections
• Trim the cardstock into rectangles and ink their edges with Mermaid
• Cut a 6-1/2" x 2-5/8" piece of orange cardstock and ink the edges with Mermaid
• Stamp the greeting on turquoise cardstock  with Wicked Black and trim it to 7/8" x 1/5/8"
• Punch a hole and loop a folded piece of twine through the hole
• Assemble the card, using foam squares for the tag
• Attach two foam squares to the left of the tag and press Grape Fizz Glitter into the adhesive
